– Newt Gingrich, in his Florida rally speech. These are words that will likely give some heartburn to every establishment GOP strategist and political analyst — the motto on his signage tonight? “46 States To Go.” (via shortformblog) Contested Convention here we come! Keep cannibalizing each other...

ladyatheist: So, for those of you who are unaware, tomorrow marks the start of Black History Month. I am so not looking forward to this. Since this year is a leap year, I have 29 of whitewashed history and white people complaints and tears to look forward to. Hip hip hoo-fucking-ray. I fucking hate Black History Month with a god damn passion. In school, it was nothing but a fucking joke. The...

Newt Gingrich Sued Over His Use of "Eye of the... →
It’s funny how there’s a story like this every election. I remember when Heart wouldn’t let Sarah Palin use Barracuda. It’s almost as if Rock and Roll values are antithetical to Republican values. Of course if Republicans could only play songs from bands that would allow their music to be played at Republican events then their soundtracks would probably be limited. -Joe

feministdisney: forpenniesaday: Just because the Dr. Pepper company tells women they can’t drink Dr. Pepper Ten doesn’t mean that they really can’t drink it. Suck it up and quit being a bunch of whiny bitches with no sense of humor. It’s not like drinking a “man drink” will have bad side-effects or anything. That’s just their marketing scheme. And it’s not like you’ll get arrested for drinking...

leeleeleelee asked: Texan here. We've always known Perry's level of batshitting insanity, but it was pretty fun to watch in real time as the nation realized it as well. This is also the dude who oversaw a $11B shortfall while renting a $10k a month mansion.

Democrats Take Lead in Congressional Ballot
liberalsarecool: For the first time in about two-and-a-half years, a national Rasmussen survey finds Democrats leading Republicans in the generic congressional ballot, 41% to 40%. Rasmussen tilts very Right. Nate Silver says that their results usually skew about 5% in favor of the Republican/GOP position. So this would mean that the actual numbers are 44/38, or something in that range.

TENNESSEE RESTAURANT THROWS OUT ANTI-GAY LAWMAKER →
karmabum submitted A restaurant in Knoxville, Tennessee refused to serve state Sen. Stacey Campfield (R), the man who sponsored the state’s “don’t say gay” bill, compared homosexuality to bestiality, and most recently told Michelangelo Signorile that it’s virtually impossible to spread HIV/AIDS through heterosexual sex. “I hope that Stacy Campfield now knows what if feels like to be unfairly...

livealifethatscompletelyfree: Gawker.com via Washington Post The Washington Post is out with an excellent update on the history of the racist, homophobic, survivalist, nutcase newspapers that were published under his name in the 80s and 90s, which comes awfully close to confirming the most likely version of the story: He may not have written every word of them, but he sure signed off on them...
