boycott—love asked: Just wondering, I think I’ve noticed you put an asterisk(*) after trans in the past few posts I’ve seen you use it. (I hope I’m not confusing multiple tumblrs, I know you’ve at least done this once). Is there a reason its written trans* ?

“Trans* is taken generally to mean: Transgender, Transsexual, genderqueer, Non-Binary, Genderfluid, Genderfuck, Intersex, Third gender, Transvestite, Cross-dresser, Bi-gender, Trans man, Trans woman, Agender and further gender expressions that we may not be aware of, whereas ‘trans’ could have been taken to mean the blog only applies to trans men and trans women.”

Basically the asterisk is a wild card — it’s a term that includes people who are transsexual, transgendered, and any other atypical gender identity. (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!)
