STFU, Conservatives

savannahglam asked: As a Liberal and a Christian, I really don't appreciate you making fun of religion. I do not see the ignorant people you post on this website as 'Christians'. I do not feel they should even be allowed to label themselves as such, because true Christians are not hateful or intolerant. It is very strange to me how you mock certain groups of people for being so 'intolerant and hateful', but think it's funny when 'intolerant & hateful' comments about religion are made. Quite hypocritical, I am very disgusted.

So you’re admitting that the people I post are being “ignorant,” but that they aren’t REAL Christians, so I shouldn’t post what they say? I don’t abide by the “well REAL Christians don’t act this way, a REAL Christian wouldn’t say that” brand of exceptionalism.

Do you think I grew up in a vacuum? I was raised Christian. I had friends of all religions, and it was always the Christians who hid behind God and the Bible when it came to their intolerance. I’m not going to let that slide because it hurts your feelings. For every submission I post, I get tens (if not hundreds) more that are virtually the same thing.

If you could find someone using their non-Christian religious text to back up their hatred, I would happily post it and mock them openly. But that doesn’t really happen much, does it?

So keep being disgusted at me, the person questioning why followers of Christ are openly bigoted. Definitely don’t ask any of your Christian friends or family members or church-goers why they they’re blind to the church’s systematic oppression of women and homosexuals. Yeah, I’m the problem here.

  3. artsexbooksandpolitics said: Notice how they strapped on, “LIBERAL and a Christian” to almost defend themselves and their faith, admitting to the traditional values of their religion by justifying them through a ‘liberal’ perspective.
  4. fullmoonovertampa said: Sorry, savannahglam, but according to the churches in which I grew up, by defining yourself as Liberal, you are by definition not a “true” Christian.
  5. sculder said: I find that any statement made that is using “…because God says so” as support is immediately made illegitimate to me.
  6. aversebliss said: This is a perfect example of the No True Scotsman logical fallacy. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No… (Also if being a true Christian is following the bible then the intolerant person is probs more of a true Christian. Soz.)
