Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) condemning other conservatives for harsh rhetoric against immigrants. This is really relevant after Newt, Mitt, and Rick lined up to kiss his ass last night. -Joe |
“Why is President Obama for young people being able to stay on their parents until 26? Because he can’t get them any jobs to get them to go out and buy their own insurance!”

Gringrich Has Huge Gains, Cain Plummets In Latest Poll
While I’m certainly not thrilled to see Gingrich running neck-and-neck with Romney I’m really glad that Cain isn’t getting out of these allegations unscathed. Definitely shows off the volatility of everyone who isn’t Mitt Romney, one day you’re leading the polls and the next day you’re tied with the guy who can barely remember his name.

Also nice to see our boy Huntsman with a slight uptick.

GOP Candidates Blame 30 Years Of Rising Income Inequality On Barack Obama And Single Moms
TUMULTY: Governor Perry, over the last 30 years, the income of the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans has grown by more than 300 percent, and yet we have more people living in poverty in this country than at any time in the last 50 years. Is this acceptable? And what would you do to close that gap?
PERRY: The reason we have that many people living in poverty is because we have got a president of the United States who is a job- killer. That’s what’s wrong with this country today. You have a president who does not understand how to create wealth. He has over-taxed, over-regulated the small-business men and women to the point where they are laying off people. Two-and-half million Americans are out there who have lost their jobs. We have got 14 million without work. This president, I will suggest to you, is the biggest deterrent to getting this country back on track, and we have to do everything we can to replace Barack Obama in 2012.
ROSE: OK. But we are almost out of time. I want to give you a chance, and then we have to go the final questions.
SANTORUM: There is more to it than that. And I agree with Rick, what he said, but the biggest problem with poverty in America, and we don’t talk about here, because it’s an economic discussion — and that is the break down of the American family. You want to look at the poverty rate among families that have two — that have a husband and wife working in them? It’s 5 percent today. A family that’s headed by one person? It’s 30 percent today…We need to have a policy that supports families, that encourages marriage that has fathers take responsibility for their children. You can’t have limited government — you can’t have a wealthy society if the family breaks down, that basic unit of society.
America, a vast land of opportunity and prosperity prior to January 20th 2009.

Mitt Romney in defense of his flip-flopping. I get what he’s saying, although the things he’s changed his views about are pretty striking and not really the same sort of thing you would change your mind about in the private sector. It’s one thing to change your marketing strategy, it’s another to be for abortion when it’s in your best political interest and then against it for the same reason. Also I don’t think there’s a way to defend yourself out of an accusation of flip-flopping. That hyphenated word pretty much single handedly took down the John Kerry campaign. -Joe |

You wanna add another candidate? It’s like the Republican primary is like a season of American Idol in reverse, where every week, you just add another idiot. …First you guys wanted (Michele) Bachmann, then (Rick) Perry — now (Chris) Christie? You know what, Republican base? Meet me at camera three!
(To camera three.) Have you ever considered the possibility that maybe your candidates aren’t the problem — maybe it’s you? You’re hard to please or figure out! You’re unrealistic! I mean, you’re pro-life, yet — (rolls tape of GOP members applauding Texas’s death penalty) — what was that? You’re afraid of ‘death panels,’ yet for uninsured coma patients — (rolls tape of GOP members shouting ‘YEAH!!!’ when Ron Paul was asked if a patient without health insurance should be allowed to die) — that’s the crowd: ‘YEAH!!!’ You guys ‘support the troops’ — well except for Captain Creatine over here (rolls tape of gay U.S. Army soldier who asked GOP candidates if they’d repeal DADT — and was booed by GOP debate crowd).
It’s like the Republican base is at war with its own talking points: ‘I want someone who’s gonna cut taxes — and balance the budget! Someone who’s a skilled orator — that doesn’t talk all fancy! The child of poor immigrants — who will build a fence to keep them out of this country! Someone who’s strong enough for a man — but Ph-balanced for a woman!
…It’s like your ideal candidate is a rare, super-heavy element that can only exist in a particular particle accelerator. And even then, only for a fraction of a second. Before you all remember how much you hate science.
You guys need to take a long, hard look in the mirror, and not come away thinking ‘Hey, there’s something wrong with this mirror.’

JON STEWART, on media-fed rumors that New Jersey governor Chris Christie may enter the GOP presidential race — as well as the hypocritical sentiments of the Republican party — on The Daily Show. (via valjeans) This whole bit was brilliant, favorite line in the whole thing was “Have you ever considered the possibility that maybe your candidates aren’t the problem — maybe it’s you?” -Joe This quote is perfection. Islamophobe and Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain Uhhh, I got two stone tablets that beg to differ Mr. Cain. -Joe |
I don’t profess to know everything and every politician at all times.
So I’ll admit, today was the first time I had ever really heard about Rand Paul. Apparently he’s some sort of a tea party darling.
I decided to educate myself on this guy based on his campaign homepage. Nothing immediately struck me as out of the ordinary for a republican candidate. Small government this, bureaucrats that, but then I got to his views on energy.
http://www.randpaul2010.com/issues/a-g/energy-innovation/
Let me preface this by noting these are his views on “Energy ‘Innovation’!”
“We should be talking about energy freedom. Like all other sectors of the economy, allowing businesses and ideas to compete on the free market will not only produce the most efficient forms of energy, but will also pass along the savings to the consumer.”
That’s right, the most efficient forms of energy will flourish! Certainly not the cheapest and most polluting source of energy. The energy source with one of the oldest and largest lobbies in America clearly will perish under the weight of its own billions.
“Just as we don’t subsidize laptops and iPods, we should not be subsidizing solar and wind power.”
Seriously solar and wind, if you’re so damned sustainable why don’t you just pull yourself up by your bootstraps like Apple? (See I said iPods, I’m hip, I’m with it)
“So long as we leave our energy policy to the special interests in Washington we will continue to have expensive and dirty energy sources.”
Wait!… wait, maybe he’s not secretly in the pocket of coal…
At 1:34 “I don’t think anybody’s going to be missing a hill or two there”
Okay yeah, he’s super in the pocket of coal.
Wave that flag high! Flat Earth & Coal Forever! Rand Paul 2010
STFU
